In this second Portuguese lesson online, we purpose learn some common phrases.

How  to say hello in brazilian language? In portuguese brazilian or european there’s no difference between “Hi” and “Hello”.
We always say “Olá”.

How do we say How are you? = Como vai? (“how do you go?”) or Tudo bem? (“Is that all right?”).

Listen the portuguese ponunciation of this two phrases:


Olá, Como vai?

Olá, tudo bem?

Olá, com vai? Olá, tudo bem?

Suppose your name is Peter (Pedro) or Susan (Susana)

Olá! Meu nome é Pedro.

How to say, I speak portuguese in portuguese? Translation and pronunciation:

Eu falo português.

I speak portuguese – Eu falo portugues

More one step ahead and let’s learn to speak: Good morning, good afternoon, good evening ad good night in Portuguese.

Notes:
 1) There´s no good evening in portuguese language. We always say: Boa noite (= good evening and good night).
We say “boa noite” when we arrive and when we go.

2) In portuguese concret or abstrat things are femenine or masculine gender.
Good = Bom (masculine) and Boa (feminine).

3) We don’t say good morning (boa manhã). We always say “Bom dia” = “Good day” during morning till 12 A.M.

Dia (day) is masculine and we say: Bom dia (good morning or good day).

Tarde (afternoon) and noite (night) are feminine in portuguese: Boa tarde and Boa noite.

We say boa tarde from 12 up to sunset and boa noite during all night.
